Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there, but especially to my awesome Dad and Marc, the best Dada ever to Violet.

He went from never changing a diaper before to being a champion diaper changer.

He may be nervous she will choke or baby her a bit to keep her safe but he is always right there when she needs him.
I feel for him down the road as Violet acts so much like me that he may have to separate us when she is a teenager. Poor guy.

Happy Father's Day Marc!

We love you!

Fort Building 101

Living in Massachusetts we were right in the path of Hurricane Sandy. Marc was able to get out of work a few hours early and we lost power about 10 minutes before he arrived home.

Here is a fun fact, I am one of the least patient people ever. Ever. We lose power and I become a crazed person, crazy cakes Leslie full force. I try to be patient and wait out like a normal person. Never happens.

So I found myself at 4PM with no power, a baby to entertain and no end in sight. I jokingly suggested to Marc that we should make a fort in the living room, thinking it might help pass the time and make me less crazed. Well he embraced it with enthusiasm and before I knew it we had a living room fort.

This picture of Miss V is how I felt. Let me out if here!!!!!!!!

Marc's Fort Building Supplies

  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Structure - he used baby safety gates, three chairs and a piece of cardboard
  • Zip ties
  • Flashlights or light projector
  • Center support - he used the handle to our swiffer
I will admit I was impressed. Marc said he wants to teach Violet to make such good forts that all the kids in school will be impressed. Isn't that the sweetest? Makes my heart melt.

We brought down Violet's turtle that projects starts so that was neat. We had to use the flash to get pictures so you don't really get a good idea of the darkness.

Here is a pic without the flash, you can see the turtle in the back and our swiffer pole support beam.

Violet didn't know what to think about the fort but she soon embraced the fun. I think she liked having Mama and Dada laying down on the floor with her.
We had a lot of fun and I can see this becoming a power outage tradition for our family. The best part? I stayed relatively calm and the power came back around 9PM....early enough to get an episode of Sons of Anarchy in. Really good show, we are on season 3.

Do you have storm or power outage traditions?

Pinterest & My Husband

I am constantly showing Marc things I find on Pinterest. I start many conversations with "I saw this thing on Pinterest......". So yeah, I am addicted.

Sweet loving Marc indulges my addiction and all my crazy projects that come from there.

Last night I walk into the kitchen and see this.

Well to be fair, I photographed it but the point is that Marc took an idea I showed him on Pinterest and did it! All by himself. I couldn't be more smitten with him.

Of course he mocked me when I pulled the fabric out for a photo backdrop.

Look at this clever way I made the fabric stay up. I slid the fabric into my cabinet doors, worked like a charm! When Marc held it up there were too many shadows.
I just talked to Marc and he gives the method two thumbs up. He said next time he would put less towards the top so it would mix better when he shakes it. Marc was quite pleased because the spinach leaves did not get soggy and the dressing coated everything. Apparently many people stopped by his desk to check out his jar o' salad.
I looked at the pin and it gives no URL so I am not able to credit the source, just said uploaded by pinned.
Warms my heart that Marc attempted a Pinterest project all on his own. Love him!
