Pinteresting Cran-Turkey Sandwich

I have another Pinterest inspired recipe for you.

Doesn't that amazing picture make you want to eat it!?

Ingredients:

Turkey

Croissants

Cream Cheese

Whole berry cranberry sauce

Baby spinach

Now when we were at the grocery store Marc backed out of using croissants, in his words "they look too wimpy". He then emphasized with his hands that he was looking for a bigger croissant. He does this every single time we talk about having sandwiches on croissants. Long story short, we purchased a multigrain bread.

We also went with whipped cream cheese for a lighter more spreadable option. Oh and we forgot the baby spinach....told you it was Pinterest inspired.

My version.

Not as pretty but oh so delicious. It has been deemed a keeper in our household with the agreement that it does need some sort of green thing on it. Must not forget the baby spinach next time, I also think some mesclun greens would be fabulous.

To Do List Thursday

Look at my sweet girl, she is the cutest in my humble opinion. We took a walk yesterday and after Mama did a little photo shoot. She is growing up way too fast, 24 weeks already!

Now for To Do List Thursday, I am going to keep this up while I need motivation. Last Thursday was my most productive day last week.

A small list, I haven't been feeling well the last few days so just a few smaller tasks so I feel accomplished.

Window Squeegee Test

I have two cats, one of which is a very long haired cat. Do you know what comes along with cats? Cat hair. Yep. Cat hair.

I have given up on wearing black outside of the house, making sure you de-fuzz the couch before company comes over and being on furball patrol so no kitty hair is eaten by Violet.

So when I saw this tip on Pinterest I knew I had to try it.

The link doesn't have any directions but it seemed self explanatory. Armed with my squeegee I went to work.

The perfectionist in me is ashamed to share these pictures but hey...cat hair happens.....at least that is what I am telling myself. Please don't judge me.

I give this helpful tip two thumbs up. It worked great on the carpet. We rent and it is not the best carpet to begin with and I felt like it sparkled a bit after.

The only downfall is that to be really effective I had to get down on the floor but I think it is worth it and I plan to continue to do this inbetween vacuuming. Most times when I vacuum I immediately spot a bunch of cat hair I missed but not this time.

I am always a little bit skeptical of all these great/best/fantastic/you will never need another way hints and tips on Pinterest but I am happy to say this one is a keeper.

Music Cupcake Toppers

On Sunday we had the baby shower for my sister-in-law and my brother. They are due with a little boy in October. I can't tell you how excited I am to be an Auntie for the first time.

My contribution to the shower were the cupcakes. This was the first time I made cupcake toppers. I found the cup idea on Pinterest, I used music pins from Etsy and then I was off creating.

The toppers were super easy to make. I used card stock in colors of the nursery and paper punches. Glue dots were the adhesive. I used lollipop sticks to anchor them to the cupcakes. We bought cupcakes because we had so much other food to make.

I think the topper parts are self explanatory so I don't have detailed pictures of those. I do have pictures of the assembly as that was a bit tricky.

First I used a knife to cut a small hole in the bottom of the cupcake, the frosting on the bottom was how the bakery got them to stick to the box without sliding around.

Then I took the cupcake topper stick and poked it through the top to the bottom.

Next we put the cupcakes into the cups. We used two types from the dollar store. Champagne type glasses that were taller and shorter cups to vary the heights when we displayed them. We filled them with candy, I really liked the champagne type glasses as the candy filled the stem and I loved how it looked.

The candy worked well as an anchor for the lollipop stick.

I love love LOVE how they turned out. You can see in the background the candy in the stem of the taller cups.

We did have some cupcake carnage tansporting them to the baby shower.

We managed to save all but 2 out of 60 cupcakes.

I am proud of how they turned out and they got a lot of comments so I deem this a job well done. At the end of the shower the music pins started to fall off due to the heat but hey...nothing is perfect.

Yay! Weekend!

This week has felt super long, not a bad week just never ending. Probably because I am getting back into the swing of things after vacation.

I was so good yesterday and only left one thing unfinished. I did two loads of laundry but didn't cross it off as I did not put it away....still. My bedroom is where clean laundry goes to die. Yet I curse myself every morning as I scatter clothes all over the place looking for something to wear. Do you have a hated house chore? Make me feel better and tell me I am not the only one out there....please...?!

We have a fun filled weekend coming up, Sunday is the baby shower for my sister-in-law. I hope to have some cute pics to share of the cupcakes I have been working on.

To Do List Thursday

Since coming home from vacation I have been über lazy with the housework and just getting back into the swing of things. A post vacation slump if you will.

No more of that! I must get back in the groove thus "To Do List Thursday" was born.

Last night I had some alone Mama time and went to Target. I bought a couple of fresh shiny new notebooks. I love notebooks, Marc just rolls his eyes at this point when I buy them. Happiness is a new notebook with fresh clean pages with the promise of exciting new things.

My shiny new notebook and the first page filled. I can't wait to start feeling the satisfaction of crossing things off my list.

Violet at 23 Weeks

Taking Violet's photo this week was quite the challenge....

Violet is so very close to crawling so to get her to stay on her back was no easy feat.

End of photo shoot carnage. FYI the painter's tape on the kitchen floor worked much better to hold the fabric for the photos. Violet destroyed afterwards.

Pinteresting Chalkboard Wine Glasses

I have about a bazillion projects that I have pinned on Pinterest that I would like to craft/cook/test out.

Yesterday I tried Just Short of Crazy's tutorial for chalkboard wine glasses for a birthday gift.

I followed the tutorial pretty closely, I did wrap my glasses differently to protect them while they dried. I love the idea of chalkboard paint, you can do so many different things!

I poured the paint into a bowl and dipped the base of the stems.

I had to let them dry for about four or five minutes before the paint had set enough to tip them upside down to dry. You also have to wipe off some of the excess paint, it surprised me how much excess paint there was just by dipping them.

I must have been a little impatient because the third and fourth glasses I did dripped a bit on the bags but they still turned out great. It is one of those projects that you need to be patient and keep an eye on the way the paint is drying.

I let the glasses dry overnight before I attempted writing on them.

I made little tags to make sure the recipient knew to hand wash only and tied a bundle of chalk together with ribbon. We also gave a bottle of wine to go with the gift.

I am happy with the way the turned out and they were super easy to make, I will be doing them again for sure

Our First Family Vacation

We had an amazing time at the lake. Marc has been looking at real estate in Maine, he says he is ready to move. I have to be the voice of reason and point out having a job in Maine is the first step.

It is a nice feeling taking our first family vacation. Starting our own traditions and just spending time together. We did lots of swimming, boating and game playing with a fair amount of trash talking.

The hardest part of vacation was sleep training Violet. She had taken up residence in our bed and it was time for her to move to her own. The first night was awful. She usually falls asleep in my arms so it was hard for both of us, we both ended up in tears BUT we made it through and she is sleeping in her own crib and bedroom with minimal tears. I will admit that I miss her a bit, our bed seems really empty now but it is what she needs so I will survive.

Violet loved swimming, she fell asleep in the lake TWICE while I was holding her.
